Breathwork can affect everyone a little differently. 

Some people leave feeling calm, clear, emotional, energized, lighter, tired, open-hearted, or deeply reflective. 

Others feel subtle shifts that continue unfolding over the next 24 to 72 hours. 

This is one of the reasons integration matters.


After a session, you may notice things like:

  • emotional release or unexpected tears
  • deep calm or unusual tiredness
  • more vivid dreams
  • clarity around a relationship, decision, or pattern
  • physical sensations in the body as energy continues to settle
  • a desire for quiet, rest, water, nourishment, or alone time
  • a stronger sense of gratitude, truth, or self-awareness


None of this has to look dramatic to be meaningful. Sometimes the biggest changes are the quiet ones.

The best thing you can do after breathwork is create a little space for your body and mind to integrate. 

You do not need to force meaning or rush back into stimulation. 

Let the experience settle.


  • Drink plenty of water and electrolytes
  • Eat a nourishing meal with protein and whole foods
  • Avoid numbing out right away with alcohol, cannabis, scrolling, or overstimulation if possible
  • Give yourself some quiet time if your schedule allows
  • Journal while the experience is still fresh
  • Rest early if your body feels tired
  • Get outside, ground, walk, or sit in the sun
  • Be gentle with yourself if emotions continue to move afterward


If something meaningful came up for you, do not ignore it just because you are back in your regular routine. Your body often shows you truth before your mind can explain it.

This is usually where people either move forward… or fall back into the same patterns.

Journal Prompts for Reflection

You do not need to answer all of these. Pick the ones that resonate and write honestly.

  • What emotions came up for me?
  • What am I being asked to slow down and notice right now?
  • What truth have I been avoiding?
  • Where in my life am I out of alignment?

  • What am I ready to receive?
  • What part of me needs more compassion right now?
  • What would change if I trusted myself more?
  • What did this experience remind me of?
  • What did I learn about my nervous system, body, or patterns?
  • What is one small action I can take to honour this experience?

Why Breathwork Can Feel So Powerful

Breathwork is more than just deep breathing. Intentional breathing practices directly influence your nervous system, emotional state, focus, and body awareness.


Most people go through their day breathing in shallow, restricted patterns that reinforce stress and disconnection from the body.


When practiced properly, breathwork can:

  • shift your state quickly 
  • increase emotional capacity 
  • improve your relationship with stress 
  • reconnect you with parts of yourself that have been pushed down 


It also supports better breathing mechanics, CO2 tolerance, and a more regulated nervous system.

For many people, breathwork becomes a bridge between the conscious mind and deeper layers underneath. That’s why it can feel emotional, clarifying, activating, grounding, or deeply restorative.
